We are proud to sponsor the first Mural Mosaic in Ames. This is truly a community project. The mural mosaic is created from about 600 painted aluminum tiles. About 350 tiles will be painted by community members. Each 4” tile has a specified color palette to create the overall 8’ x 8’ design. Additional tiles are pre-painted to maintain the design image. We anticipate the finished mural will be installed by the end of September.
This mural project is far more than decorative art on the side of a building. It is an opportunity for instant engagement, social sharing and contributions that will live long after the paint dries. It will be a permanent symbol of connection, creativity, and community.
Each tile comes in a unique package with supplies. The painter can choose their own design, but they need to use the custom color palette to maintain the overall mural design. The package also includes a QR code for an online learning portal with painting tips and design suggestions.
